Smashing
Saturday is a show that derives its content from events
that happened on that day. For example, November 24,
2007 fell on a Saturday. Coincidentally that is the day
the late great Freddie Mercury of the classic band QUEEN
passed away due to HIV-related complications. On that
day, one hour was dedicated to all things QUEEN.
They are not
all necessarily music based. At times they are based on
famous writers, inventors etc... There have been times
they are based on different events that happen in
different countries. The options are never predictable
and this allows for the listeners to tune in just
finding out what I have in store for them.
Other segments on the show include "No. 1 song today" in
the UK, US and
Australia X years ago,
celebrity birthdays (so if a well known musician
celebrates their birthday that day - a song that
musician partake in will be played), general
infotainment news, requests and dedications are welcome
but the show isn't always based on them.
